Bihta Airport Terminal Construction to Start Next Month

The long-awaited Bihta airport terminal construction is all set to begin next month, marking a key milestone in Bihar’s air travel infrastructure.

Currently, soil testing is underway as part of the pre-construction phase. As work gains momentum, the contractor agency has started mobilising heavy equipment such as mixer machines, cranes, and trucks, along with building materials like sand, gravel, cement, and steel.

The new terminal building at Bihta airport is designed to handle 3,000 passengers at a time. It will include a spacious terminal structure, utility corridors, and an elevated road for smoother passenger flow. The construction is expected to be completed within two years, aiming to meet the deadline of April 2027.

Key Details of the Bihta Airport Project:

1.Total Project Cost: ₹459.99 crore.

2.Construction Budget: ₹438 crore.

3.Operations & Maintenance: ₹21.99 crore.

4.Deadline: April 2027.

5.Passenger Capacity: 3,000 at a time.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has awarded the terminal building contract to a joint venture between an Indian and a Russian company. The scope of the project includes:

1.Development of a new civil enclave.

2.Construction of the Bihta airport terminal building.

3.Installation of airport systems.

4.Creation of utility complexes and approach infrastructure.

This initiative is part of the broader Patna airport expansion plan, which aims to decongest the current airport and improve connectivity across Bihar. Once completed, the Bihta airport in Patna will provide modern facilities, faster access, and better service for domestic and potentially international travelers.

Why It Matters:

The upcoming terminal at Bihta isn’t just a construction project—it’s a sign of progress. With growing air traffic in Bihar, the need for a modern, well-equipped airport terminal has never been more urgent. This development will support regional growth, ease passenger load on the current Patna airport, and improve access to flights across India.

For travelers, businesses, and the local economy, this is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it’s a gateway to new opportunities.
