Roadwork Updates for Northeast and Northwest Missouri, July 8-19

Northeast Missouri Roadwork

In the coming weeks, Northeast Missouri residents can expect essential highway maintenance work from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Scheduled activities include various road closures and updates aimed at enhancing local infrastructure. For detailed information on specific closures and planned roadwork, residents can visit MoDOT’s Traveler Information portal.

Cass County Ramp Closures

From July 8-13, Cass County will see intermittent closures at the intersection of I-49 and MO 291 in Harrisonville. Crews will be updating pavement markings, necessitating closures of the northbound and southbound I-49 exit ramps to MO 291. These closures are crucial for improving traffic flow and safety in the area.

Jackson County Bridge Rehabilitation

Ongoing bridge rehabilitation on the twin bridges over Raytown Road will continue to impact traffic on NB I-435. A two-lane closure before Raytown Rd. will remain in place until mid-August 2024. This rehabilitation work is part of MoDOT’s efforts to ensure structural integrity and longevity of the bridges.

Carthage Route HH Traffic Pattern Change

Starting the week of July 8, a new traffic pattern will be implemented on Route HH in Carthage. Traffic accessing Dr. Russell Smith Way from Jasper County Route HH (Fir Road) will shift to the Route HH-to-southbound-I-49 ramp. This change aims to streamline traffic flow and improve safety at the intersection.

Northwest Missouri Maintenance

In Northwest Missouri, MoDOT has planned a range of maintenance and construction activities for the week of July 8-14. These operations may include moving operations and other necessary measures to maintain regional highways and ensure safe travel for residents.

Buck O'Neil Bridge Closures

Residents of Jackson and Clay Counties should take note of upcoming closures related to the Buck O'Neil Bridge project. On July 8-10, 3rd St. at Broadway Blvd. and Woodswether Rd. at Broadway Blvd. will be closed from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. These closures are part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and traffic flow in the area.

Guardrail Repairs in Various Counties

Southbound U.S. Route 67 in St. Francois County, EB Route U in Pemiscot County, and SB I-55 in Cape Girardeau County will undergo guardrail repairs. These repairs will require lane reductions and width restrictions to facilitate safe working conditions for contractor crews. Drivers should plan for potential delays and exercise caution in these areas.

St. Louis Work Zones Update

During the Independence Day weekend, MoDOT will suspend most work on interstates and state highways in St. Louis starting July 3 at noon. However, traffic restrictions will remain in place in specific zones to manage congestion and ensure safe travel for holiday commuters.
